  • In view of the current global scenario in view of COVID-19, this report states that public external debt of developing countries could increase by $ 2.4-3.6 trillion in the year 2020 and 2021.
  • This report states that most of the developing countries, which have been struggling with constant debt burden for many years, are stuck in debt trap with increasing health and economic needs due to COVID-19.
  • The financial turmoil caused by the COVID-19 crisis has triggered the outflow of capital due to rapid currency devaluation in emerging economies and developing countries, making loans taken by them more effective.
