Beijing:

China has approved the second phase clinical trial of its third vaccine for coronavirus. With the arrival of 12 new cases of COVID-19 here, the total number of infections has increased to 82,816. China has approved clinical trials of three coronavirus vaccines, one of which has been developed by China’s Army People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The Wuhan Institute of Biological Products has begun clinical trials of its vaccine developed under the China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm), and the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), according to the official Xinhua news agency.

WIV had been in controversy a few days back when US President Donald Trump and top US officials alleged that coronaviruses would grow from there. The United States had demanded an inquiry into the matter. The WIV denied the allegations and said that they were completely fabricated.

China’s pharmaceutical company Sinopharm said a total of 96 people of three different ages have been vaccinated by April 23 in the first phase of clinical trials. Till now the vaccine results have been safe and the people who have been tested on it have been kept under observation.
