A group of students from IIT Bombay, NIT Srinagar and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) built a low cost ventilator using locally available materials. For the group, the cost of prototyping the ‘Ruhadar’ ventilator was around Rs 10,000, while according to the group, when the ventilator is mass-produced, the cost of the ventilator will be greatly reduced.
It is important to note that the ventilator is an important component of the medical infrastructure required for the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19, who help the critically ill to breathe. According to the Ministry of Health, only about 80 percent of those infected are normally ill, about 15 percent require oxygen and the remaining 5 percent whose condition will be severe or delicate require ventilators.
The prototype of ‘Ruhadar’ ventilator is yet to be medically tested. As soon as this ventilator is approved, it will be manufactured on a large scale and small scale industry will be included in its production.

Ozone-O3 is a gas consisting of three atoms of oxygen, which is found in very small amounts in the atmosphere.
30-32 km from the Earth’s surface. Its concentration is high at the height of. It is a strong blue smelling toxic gas. Ozone gas is found in the stratosphere as a very thin and transparent layer. The ozone layer is very important in our atmosphere because it absorbs ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Ultraviolet radiation is extremely harmful for humans, animals and flora.
