On April 24, 2020, Union Minister for Agriculture and Family Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar held a video conference with the State Rural Development Ministers. During this conference, he shared the plan of the Government of India to promote rural development schemes.
The following schemes will be promoted under the Rural Development Program:
Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS)
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana
National Rural Livelihood Mission Scheme
The government has plans to diversify rural livelihoods, create employment in rural areas and strengthen rural infrastructure. The UB schemes have been selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the basis of relaxation given in non-contention areas.
The Ministry of Rural Development has so far released Rs 36,000 crore to the States and Union Territories for the year 2020-21. 20, 225 crores has been allocated to MNREGA scheme. However, this money will be used to pay the outstanding amount of MNREGA scheme in the previous year.
The Government of India has recently launched the e-Gram Swaraj and Swami Yojana to help in development activities and reduce land disputes.
