Railways increases advance reservation period for all special trains from present 30 days to 120 days

new Delhi. Indian Railways has provided great relief to those traveling by rail during the lockdown. The Ministry of Railways on Thursday announced the extension of advance reservation period for all special trains. Indian Railways is going to start 200 special trains from June 1.

Indian Railways said that it has increased the advance reservation period for all special trains from the present 30 days to 120 days now. That is, now a passenger can reserve a train ticket 120 days before their travel date.

Apart from this, Railways has said that parcel and luggage booking will be allowed for all special trains. Railways said that 15 pairs of special trains will be running from May 12 and 100 pairs of special trains will run from June 1. All of these will allow booking of parcels and luggage. This will provide relief to businessmen, who deliver their goods to other cities by train.

Railways has said in a statement that the Ministry of Railways has decided to extend the advance reservation period from 30 days to 120 days for all special trains and allow booking of parcels and luggage in all 230 special trains.

Railways said that other terms and conditions such as current booking for roadside station, immediate quota allocation of seats etc. will remain same as trains with regular timetable. Railways has said that these new rules will be effective from May 31, 2020 from 8 am.
