new Delhi. Major automobile manufacturers in the country believe that fear of Corona infection in public vehicles may increase demand for private vehicles. Companies believe that people will distance themselves from public transport in the coming times. Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest car company, expects demand for low-priced cars to increase after the end of the lockdown. Shashank Srivastava, executive director (marketing and sales) of the company told PTI that people would prefer private vehicles over public transport. This has also come up in many customer surveys. He said that due to the softening of economic activities and the purchasing power of the people affected, people would prefer to buy small or low priced cars for private transport. Especially the number of customers who are buying cars for the first time will increase. Recently, we are seeing this trend at around 1800 dealers opened across the country. Srivastava said that it has been seen earlier that in times of crisis, customers prefer the established brand.

A similar thing was also said by Honda Cars India Senior Vice President and Marketing and Sales Director Rajesh Goyal. He said that people will be more aware of the Kovid-19 infection. Therefore, instead of public transport, people will give more importance to private vehicles. This may increase car sales. He said that along with the new cars of different categories, people will also pay attention to the purchase of certified used cars. With this, he will be able to buy good vehicle cheaply and use it economically. A spokesman for Toyota Kirloskar Motor said people could move to private vehicles to avoid infection. However, it has to be kept in mind that the demand of customers is limited at present. This can remain until measures are taken to increase the demand towards the government. A Tata Motors spokesperson said that public transport usage would decline due to the impact of the Kovid-19. In such a situation, demand for private vehicles may increase.
