Employee at Maruti's Manesar plant tests positive for COVID-19

new Delhi. An employee at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar factory has been found infected with Kovid-19. The company has said that it is investigating other possible cases but due to this the company has denied any impact on the business. The Maruti spokesperson said that due to the lockdown at the Manesar plant, it resumed work on May 12 after 50 days.

A Maruti spokesperson said that an employee of the Manesar plant was found infected with Kovid-19 on 22 May. This employee was last seen in the plant on May 15, when his health was normal. After this, his residential area came into the Containment Zone and since then he was not coming to work. The spokesman said that the district administration has stated that the employee is admitted in the hospital and his condition is stable. The spokesperson said that Maruti Suzuki is providing medical help and other support to its infected employees.

The company is now performing contract tracing and has requested all employees who had come in contact with the employee to go into home isolation. The company has implemented a robust and carefully constructed standard operating procedure to prevent infection from spreading at the workplace. In addition, a Kovid-19 task force has also been formed, which ensures strict compliance with standard operating procedures in the company.

Maruti Suzuki India started work on May 18 at its Gurugram plant. Both Manesar and Gurugram plants have a combined installed capacity of 15.5 lakh vehicles per year. Vehicles like S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ignis and Super Carry are manufactured in Gurugram Plant. The best-selling models in the Manesar plant are the Alto, Swift, Desire, S-Preso, Ertiga and Baleno.
