Department of Telecom has entrusted the responsibility of organizing spectrum auction to MSTC, process will start in October

DoT selects MSTC for organized spectrum auction

new Delhi. The Department of Telecommunications on Friday announced the selection of public sector MSTC Ltd as the auctioneer for the next phase of spectrum sales. According to official sources, the Department of Telecommunications has issued a letter to this effect to MSTC. It will take about two months for MSTC Limited to design and develop the software for e-auctioning of the spectrum, making it likely that the auction of the spectrum can start in late September or October.

Sources said that MSTC Limited was selected as the auctioneer today after opening of eligible financial bids. Prior to this, MSTC has also conducted coal block auction in 2015. It also conducts auctions for various central and state government departments.

This is the first time for MSTC that it has been selected as the organizer for the spectrum auction. MSTC won the bid by overtaking Tata Group's company Action Services and Ahmedabad's e-Procurement Technologies. Both of them had organized the first spectrum bid.

E-Procurement Technologies conducted the spectrum auction in 2012, 2013 and 2014, while mjunction was awarded the auctioneer's responsibility for the spectrum auction held in 2015 and 2016.
