deadline extended for aadhar ration card linkage

new Delhi. Food Ministry has extended the deadline on Monday, adding to the base ration cards by the end of September. At the same time insisted that the beneficiaries will continue to get their share ration on the card, despite not being linked to Aadhaar. On the news of cancellation of ration card not related to Aadhaar, the Ministry said this while issuing an explanation. According to the official statement, the responsibility of linking the ration card to the Aadhaar number has been given to all the state governments and Union Territories based on the notification dated 7 February 2017 by the Department of Food and Public Distribution. This notification has been revised from time to time. Now the work deadline has been extended to 30 September 2020.

According to the statement, no rightful beneficiary will be denied the ration of its share until the Ministry issues clear instructions to all states and union territories. The ministry said that the ration card of someone will not be canceled because of not having an Aadhaar number.
