IRCTC shares rise, 5% up on announcement of announcement of select train service from May 12

IRCTC share price jumps 5 percent in early session

new Delhi. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) shares gained over five per cent in early trade on Monday. Indian Railways has said that it will progressively start passenger rail services from May 12, due to which it has gained momentum. Shares of the company rose five per cent to Rs 1,302.85 on the BSE. On the other hand, the stock on the NSE was up five per cent at Rs 1,303.55, its upper circuit limit.

Booking for reservation in these special trains will start at 4 pm on May 11 and this booking can only be done through IRCTC website. Indian Railways on Sunday said it plans to start passenger train services in a phased manner from May 12, and will initially run 15 pairs of trains (up-and-down to 30 trains) on select routes. Also, the railway said that passengers who reserve seats in these trains must reach the railway station at least one hour before the departure time.

Indian Railways said that initially air-conditioned services will start on all 15 Rajdhani trains and their fares will be similar to super-fast trains. These special trains will run from New Delhi Railway Station and will go to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu-Tawi. The official said that unlike the Shramik trains, booking of all 72 seats will be done in the coaches of these trains and there is no possibility of any relaxation in their fares.

Significantly, a maximum of 54 passengers are allowed to travel in one compartment in Shramik Special trains. Kovid-19 All passenger train services have been closed since March 25 due to nationwide lockdown. Indian Railways said that the ticket booking window at the stations would remain closed, no counter tickets including platform tickets would be issued.
