new Delhi. Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Friday that from June 1, 20 states and union territories are preparing to implement the ambitious ration card portability service 'One Nation-One RationCard'. Under this initiative, eligible beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be able to get their share of food grains from any fair price shop anywhere in the country using the same ration card.

Paswan told reporters that so far 17 states and union territories have been added and three more states like Odisha, Mizoram and Nagaland are also being prepared. A total of 20 states and union territories will be ready for the launch of ration card portability from June 1. He said that linking the Aadhaar details with ration cards and installing point-of-sale machines at PDS shops are important to enable ration card portability effectively. This process has already been completed in 17 states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Jharkhand, Tripura, Bihar, UP, Punjab, Himachal. Pradesh and Daman and Diu.
