According to the new rates, Rajasthan will now attract 38 per cent VAT on petrol and 28 per cent on diesel. This is the third VAT increase in fuel during lockdown. During this period, the total VAT on petrol and 6 percent on diesel has increased. Before today, on March 21, VAT on petrol and diesel was increased by 4-4 percent and on April 15, VAT on petrol and diesel on diesel was increased by 1 percent.

There has been a sharp decline in the income of the state governments due to the Corona crisis. To compensate for this, governments are raising taxes on petrol, diesel and alcohol. Many states of the country have already increased taxes on fuel and alcohol.
