Hyundai to reopen its factory in Tamil Nadu from Wednesday

new Delhi. Hyundai Motor India, the Indian arm of South Korea's flagship vehicle company Hyundai, said on Monday that it would start making car preparations at its manufacturing plant in Chennai from this week.

The company said in a statement that it plans to resume operations from May 6, following the government guidelines, to restore operations at the plant at Irungattukottai near Chennai.

The company said that it has thoroughly sanitized all the facilities located inside the plant like a responsible corporate to ensure the safety of employees' health. Manufacturing at the company's plant has been suspended since March 23 due to the Corona virus epidemic.

Hyundai has set a target of manufacturing 12,000 to 13,000 vehicles in May, while Maruti Suzuki is expected to produce 45,000 vehicles during the month. Both companies have made this estimate internally.

MG Motor India, a new entrant into the Indian market, has already started production activity at its manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The company has restored work here since the last week of April.
