Rupee ends 64 paise lower at 75.73 per dollar

new Delhi. The rupee fell 64 paise to close at 75.73 per dollar on Monday due to strong dollar in overseas markets and heavy selling in domestic stock markets. Traders said heavy selling in domestic stock markets and the strengthening of the US dollar were the main reasons for the rupee's fall. In addition, increasing cases of infection with the corono virus worldwide also adversely affected the rupee.

The rupee opened lower at 75.70 per dollar. It declined further during the business. It finally fell 64 paise to close at 75.73 per dollar based on preliminary data. The rupee had closed at 75.09 per dollar on Thursday. The foreign exchange market was closed on Friday due to Maharashtra Day. The dollar index rose 0.27 percent to 99.35 against the basket of six major currencies.
