Sale of liquor started in Uttar Pradesh, government expected to get revenue of Rs 100 crore on first day

Lucknow. The liquor shops opened in the state from Monday after some concessions in lockdown in order to reopen the economy slowly and there were long queues outside the shops before opening. The Excise Department said that the government is expected to get revenue of about Rs 100 crore from 26 thousand shops in the state on Monday. Nearly 40 days later, people arrived at the shops to open much ahead of time.

Along with the capital Lucknow, other cities of the state also had long queues outside liquor shops before they opened. During this time, social distance strips also took off at many places. People are buying bottles of liquor in large quantities. State Principal Secretary (Excise) Sanjay Bhusreddy, along with his officials, inspected liquor shops in the metropolitan, Aliganj, Indiranagar etc. areas of the city from around 10 am and ensured the provision of sanitizer and social distance etc. at all the shops .

Bhusreddy said that since Monday, orders have been given to open about 26 thousand liquor shops in all the districts of the state. Shops opened in most districts and liquor sales continued, following the rules of lockdown and keeping in mind the social distance and sanitation system. It is estimated that on the first day the government will get revenue of about 100 crores.

He said that the policemen have been instructed not to allow the crowd outside the liquor shops and to follow social distance. The third phase of the bandh has come into force from Monday today. Under this, there is a provision to open liquor shops in Red, Orange and Green zones from 10 am to 7 pm with some conditions.
