corona cases expected to stabilize anytime soon says Niti Aayog member

Corona crisis

new Delhi. NITI Aayog member VK Paul believes that the number of people infected with the corona virus is definitely increasing, but they will soon start stabilizing from any day. Along with this, he said that 50,000 COVID-19 tests are being conducted every day in the country. He said that the purpose of extending the lockdown by two more weeks by the government is to further strengthen the gains made during the first and second phases. Paul told PTI-language interview that the sudden increase in cases of corona virus is within the limits of our control policy to prevent this infection. Describing the motive behind the decision to extend the bandh to 17 May, Paul said that it is necessary to strengthen the gains that the country has gained from the previous lockdown. He said the bandh was intended to break the chain of transmission of the virus. If we do not stop further, we will lose profit.

Paul is the head of the Empowered Group on Medical Equipment and Management Plans designed to combat the Corona virus. With this, he said that where the situation is better, the bandh will be opened with caution and vigilance. Asked if India had reached the stage of community spread of infection, Paul said that the number of cases of corona virus rising now could be considered under control. Paul said that India has not come anywhere near the increase in cases of corona virus happening before the lockdown. Corona virus cases in the country were doubling every five days before the lockdown. Before that it was happening in three days. Now this is happening in 11-12 days. The NITI Aayog member said that the virus outbreak has weakened overall, but it has not stabilized yet. But we hope that now it will stabilize at some point.
