Mahindra August sales data Commercial vehicle suv Pick Up | Mahindra's commercial vehicles sales up, but total sales drop by 16%

The country's leading vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M & M Ltd.) has announced sales figures for the month of August amid the Corona crisis. Sales of the company, which is suffering from the recession, have fallen by 16 percent over August last year. However, there has been a slight improvement in the segment of passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle.

In the passenger vehicle segment (which includes UV, cars and vans) in August 2020, Mahindra sold 13,651 vehicles, as compared to 13,507 vehicles in August 2019, according to sales data released by the Mahindra Group. In the commercial vehicle segment, the company sold 15,299 vehicles in August 2020, while in August 2019, the company sold 14,684 vehicles. Thus this segment has recorded a growth of 4%. In the month of August 2020, exports stood at 1,169 vehicles.

The company's total automotive sales (domestic + exports) in August 2020 were 30,426 vehicles. At the same time during August 2019, the company sold 36,085 vehicles. Commenting on the performance, Vijaya Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Limited said, "In Mahindra, we are seeing a good recovery in demand for both SUVs and pick-ups.
