DRDO identifies 108 system subsystem to be developed by industry

The Defense Ministry said that a high level delegation of DRDO has submitted the list of products to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The ministry said in a statement on Monday that DRDO will also provide assistance to the industry for the design, development and testing of these systems based on their requirement. The move is in line with the government's goal of becoming self-reliant in the defense sector. The DRDO has set a target for next year for the development of systems and sub-systems. "All requirements related to these systems can be met by R&D establishments, military forces and other security agencies through development contracts or production orders with the appropriate Indian undertaking," the ministry said in a statement. This will help DRDO to focus on the design and development of important and modern technologies and systems. "

It is noteworthy that the Defense Minister had announced the phasing out of 101 military systems and arms imports by 2024 in a phased manner with the intention of boosting the domestic defense industry by two weeks earlier. These systems and weapons include transport aircraft, light combat helicopters, conventional submarines and cruise missiles. After this announcement, the Ministry of Defense has started taking steps to promote the domestic defense industry. The ministry has set a target of $ 25 billion (Rs 1.75 lakh crore) in the defense manufacturing sector in the next five years. This includes exports of military hardware worth $ 5 billion (Rs 35,000 crore). The Ministry said, "With the Prime Minister's call for 'Self-reliant India', the Defense Research and Development Organization has taken several initiatives to strengthen indigenous defense manufacturing." According to the statement, the defense sector is currently in the industry base for DRDO. Includes 1,800 MSMEs with PSUs, Ordnance Factories and Large Industries. The ministry said, "DRDO has already taken several initiatives through various policies to connect Indian industry as development cum production partners (DCPPs). Also offering technology to the industry at a nominal cost and providing free access to its patents. "This initiative will support the fast-growing domestic defense industrial environment and provide the industry with a 'self-sufficient India' on a large scale.
