Retail inflation for farm rural workers drops in July

new Delhi. The rate of retail inflation for agricultural and rural workers decreased to 6.58 percent and 6.53 percent respectively in July. Some food items have come down due to lower prices. The Ministry of Labor gave this information on Thursday. According to a statement from the Ministry of Labor, inflation based on CPI-AL (Consumer Price Index- Agricultural Laborers) and CPI-RL (Consumer Price Index- Rural Laborers) were 7.16% and 7% respectively in June a month ago. According to the statement, inflation based on CPI-AL and CPI-RL food index was recorded at 7.83 percent and 7.89 percent respectively in July 2020. Among states, the maximum increase in consumer price index for agricultural laborers increased by 15 points in Meghalaya and 14 points for rural laborers in Jammu and Kashmir and Meghalaya (14 points). The main reason for this is the increase in rates of milk, goat meat, fish dry, bidi, vegetables, fruits and bus fare etc.

In contrast, the maximum decrease in CPI for agricultural laborers and rural laborers in Tripura was 8 points and 5 points respectively. This is mainly due to the fall in prices of rice, goat meat, fish. The statement said that in July 2020, the All India Consumer Price Index (base: 1986-87 = 100) for agricultural laborers and rural laborers rose by three and four points to 1,021 and 1,028 points respectively. Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar said, "Despite the adverse situation caused by the Kovid-19 epidemic in the country, the measures taken by the government have been able to control inflation during this period." Director General of Labor Bureau DS Negi said, "An increase in the index will have a positive impact on the salaries of millions of workers working in the unorganized sector in rural areas."
