Pune platform ticket cost hiked to Rs 50

new Delhi. After increasing the platform ticket from Rs 3 to Rs 50 at Pune junction, the railway has now given the reason for this increase in view of the strong response on social media. The Railways tweeted that the increase was made to curb unnecessary congestion at the station during the Corona epidemic. According to the railway, the move will reduce congestion at the station and people will follow social distancing.

Railways also said that platform tickets are being handled in a similar way since the onset of the Corona epidemic. Railways have increased platform ticket rates in all 6 divisions of Western Railway in Mumbai, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Ratlam and Bhavnagar. Currently, there is a ban on general passenger rail service in the country. The train is being run on certain routes with special permission. According to the instructions of the government, social distancing is to be followed in the station premises, platforms and special train coaches also. Railways are taking all possible steps to keep people at a sufficient distance from each other, this includes giving information through posters at the station with the mark on the bench on the ground and platform. According to Railways, the increase in platform tickets is one such attempt.
