Power output rises for first time in 5 months

new Delhi. In the first 15 days of August, the country's electricity generation has increased. On the basis of performance compared to last year, for the first time in the past 5 months electricity generation has registered an increase. According to Reuters, electricity generation in the first 15 days of August increased by 2.6 percent over the previous year. Electricity production dropped by 1.8 percent in July.

According to the data, the production of renewable energy in the first 15 days of August has increased by 2.3% over the previous year. Solar power generation increased by 19.3% over the previous year. On the other hand, wind energy production declined by 10 per cent over the previous year. Electricity production through coal increased by 4.2 percent over the previous year. The largest share of electricity produced in the country is produced by the use of coal.

Electricity demand has been witnessing improvement since last few months. The demand for electricity has continued to improve due to the increase in business activity after the government relaxed the lockdown, although demand has still remained in decline compared to last year. Industry and office account for more than half of the total power demand in India. At the same time, as the heat increases, there is an increase in demand. The entire lockdown was imposed in India in March, which has been gradually relaxed from May. Currently, restrictions are continuing in some parts of the country based on corona cases.
