New Delhi Petrol prices registered a slight increase on Sunday after about one and a half months, while there was no change in the price of diesel. Oil marketing companies have increased the price of petrol in Delhi by 14 paise, while in Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai by 12 paise per liter. According to Indian Oil's website, petrol prices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai on Sunday increased to Rs 80.57, Rs 82.17, Rs 87.31 and Rs 83.75 per liter respectively. At the same time, the price of diesel in the four metros remains stable at Rs 73.56, Rs 77.06, Rs 80.11 and Rs 78.86 per liter respectively. Petrol price in Delhi is Rs 51.57 per liter for Rs 80.57 per liter while diesel is priced at Rs 73.56 for Rs 42.63 per liter. Explain that on 30 July, the Delhi government decided to reduce VAT on diesel from 30% to 16.75%.
