new Delhi. The country's economy is coming back from the shock of the Kovid-19 epidemic and this is visible from the performance of sectors like everyday work goods (FMCG). Agriculture, Food and Public Distribution Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said that FMCG sales have returned to around 85 per cent of the level before Kovid, which is an important indicator.
He said in a FICCI webinar that Indian agricultural production, worth about $ 264 billion, is leading the reform. He said that during the Rabi crop this year, about 12 percent more purchases have been made, which is about 590 lakh tonnes. It has delivered more than one lakh crore rupees in the hands of farmers and the purchase of Kharif has broken all records.
Pandey said that the sugarcane industry has taken an additional Rs 85,000 crore in the hands of farmers. Therefore, only these three crops have brought an income of three lakh crore rupees in rural India. He said that these indicators would motivate businessmen to take forward FMCG sector in rural areas.
He also said that the food and beverage industry has suffered some setback for the time being due to a decline in commercial consumption, but it is on track to improve again and we hope that the food and beverage industry will take over again.
