BSNL to provide 100MBPS data speed in Andaman and Nicobar, PM Modi to launch a community optical fiber cable project


BSNL to increase data speed in Andaman Nicobar by 10 times from Monday

new Delhi. Public sector telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will increase the maximum data speed by 10 times to 100 Mbps for its customers in the Andaman Nicobar Islands and offer data download limits up to 20 times higher. The company gave this information on Sunday. BSNL announced this a day before the launch of the 2,312-km Chennai-Andaman Nicobar Islands (CANI) oceanic optical fiber cable project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BSNL Chairman and Managing Director PK Purwar said that despite many challenges, the project was completed within the stipulated time frame and without any cost overruns. Under the first of its kind project in India, BSNL has completed the laying of optical fiber cabling under the sea as per global guidelines.

BSNL has also announced a Bonanza offer for its customers on the occasion. Cooper broad band customers for the BSNL wire line segment have been increased from 30 GB to 750 GB at a speed of 100 Mbps and 15 times more data download on the existing plan.

BSNL will provide better services in terms of volume of high speed internet and mobile data download to its wireline and mobile customers in Andaman and Nicobar. Let us tell you that this island has been connected to Chennai by BSNL for 2312 km long submarine optical fiber. The project has been completed on time despite many difficulties.

The project will also provide better facilities for fast and reliable mobile and landline telecom services to Andaman & Nicobar Islands like other parts of the country. 4G services will be available in mobile phones. Internet speed will be much faster than before. Let us tell you that the Prime Minister laid the foundation of this project in Port Blair in December 2018. The Government of India provided funds for this project under the Universal Service Obligation Fund of the Ministry of Communications.
