new Delhi. The country's first farmer train between Devlali in Maharashtra and Danapur in Bihar departed on Friday. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal flagged off the first Kisan Special Parcel Train. The train, run as a pilot project, will pass through four states.
Agriculture Minister Tomar, who participated in the inaugural program of Kisan Rail through video conferencing from Krishi Bhavan, said that Kisan Rail will prove to be effective in providing prosperity of farmers and providing food to every corner of the country. Tomar, who attended the program as the chief guest, said that today the Government of India has fulfilled a major requirement of farmers and with this it will be possible to send the products of the farmers from one place to another at a low rent.
Tomar said, "This route of Kisan Rail is very useful. Onion is not spoiled due to high yields in Nashik, everyone is worried about it. Farmers get their fair price and adequate availability of all food items including onions to consumers. For that, the farmer rail will prove to be a panacea for this and to make the farmers prosperous. "
Presiding over the program, Railway Minister Goyal said that "The first train from Mumbai was run in 1853 and now amidst the progress of railway, today the Prime Minister's dream of running rail for farmers has come true." He said that not only the corners of the country, but the products of Indian farmers will now reach the world easily. Goyal said that this is a pilot project, this facility will be expanded in the future and an effort will be made to send apples from Kashmir to Kanyakumari via Kisan Rail.
The program was attended by former Maharashtra Chief Minister and presently Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Union Ministers Suresh C. Angadi, Rao Saheb Danve Patil, Parshottam Rupala and Kailash Chaudhary, Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and public representatives and officials.
