Kodak TV to invest Rs 500 cr to set up plant in Hapur

new Delhi. Kodak TV India has said that it will invest Rs 500 crore over the next three years to set up a fully automated TV manufacturing plant in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Kodak TV's brand license holding company in India Super Plastics Pvt Ltd (SPPL) said in a statement that the first phase of the plant will be operational by the end of 2021. The company said that this would help the company to add local value addition to its products and the company would create a stir in the cheap smart TV market in India.

Super Plastics founder and CEO Avneet Singh said the company would invest more than Rs 500 crore in the next three years on the manufacturing plant, furthering its commitment to Make in India and leveraging its Android certification. The plant at Hapur in Uttar Pradesh will be fully automated. He said that the local value addition in TV manufacturing will increase from 50 to 60 percent after the plant is set up. Super Plastics is also the license holder of France's electronics brand Thomson. The company currently has three plants in Noida, Una and Jammu.

Android TV will be produced in this new plant and it will also help in reducing imports from other countries. With this new plant, the company aims to increase its production capacity to 10 lakh units. All future projects will be developed and tested in India with Google itself. This new plant will provide employment to 2000 people.
