Sun pharma launches fluGuard for covid treatment

new Delhi. Leading pharmaceutical company Sun Pharmaceutical Industries said on Tuesday that it has offered the antiviral drug Favipiravir under the brand name 'FluGuard' for the treatment of mild symptoms of Kovid-19 disease, which is priced at Rs 35 per tablet. SunPharma told the stock market that Flugard will be available in the market from this week. Favipiravir is the only oral anti-viral treatment approved for possible treatment of mild to moderate Kovid-19 disease in India. Kirti Ganorkar, Business CEO of Sun Pharma India, said, "We are offering Flugard at an affordable cost to reach as many patients as possible, reducing their financial burden." More than a thousand Kovid-19 cases are occurring and there is an urgent need to offer healthcare professionals more treatment options.

Along with offering this drug, the company has stated in its annual report for 2019-20 that it will focus on growing its market more quickly than the market. For this, it said, it is emphasizing on strengthening the supply chain, optimum utilization of the plants and working closely with the vendors, so that the supply will continue continuously. The company's managing director Dilip Shanghvi said that Sun Pharma will continue to invest in research and development (R&D) in the coming years. He said that the company's strong position in the global generics industry and continued investment for the future will ensure that they continue to hold a leading position in the sector.
