NHAI clears Rs 4k cr project; to provide faster connectivity to Chandigarh from Ludhiana

new Delhi. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sanctioned a total of four thousand crore rupees projects, including a high-speed road from Ludhiana to Chandigarh. A spokesman of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways gave this information. This section of Chandigarh and Ludhiana will be part of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway. On completion of this section, the time taken to travel to Chandigarh and Ludhiana will come down from one and a half hours to less than an hour. In addition, the completion of the project will also reduce travel time between Delhi Airport and Chandigarh Airport.

This will be possible with the urban extension road-two of the Delhi-Katra Expressway. NHAI is working on the 670 km long Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Greenfield Expressway. It is part of the Bharatmala project and will connect cities like Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Gurdaspur and Jammu.

The spokesman said that to restore express contact between Chandigarh to Ludhiana and Jalandhar to Amritsar, it has been approved to extend the Ludhiana-Ropar road to Kharar (Chandigarh). With this, the time taken for the journey between Chandigarh and Amritsar will be reduced from the present four hours to about two hours.
