IT Return filing deadline increased from 31 July to 30 September

new Delhi. To give relief to income tax payers due to corona crisis and lockdown, the Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by 2 months. As per the notification issued by the department, the last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2018-19 has been extended from 31 July to 30 September. The Income Tax Department said that due to the ongoing difficulties due to the Kovid epidemic, the last date for filing the income tax returns for the financial year 2018-19 (AY2019-20) from 31 July 2020 to 30 September 2020 for relief to its taxpayers.

In the month of June, the CBDT extended the last date for filing IT returns by one month to 31 July. Along with this, the last date for return for the financial year 2019-20 (AY2020-21) was extended to November 30 2020. In the last month, the government has extended the deadline for payment of self assessment tax to 30 November, in a situation where the self assessment tax is up to Rs 1 lakh.

In fact, the lockdown is going on in many parts of the country, while there is a possibility of a new ban in many states as Corona patients increase. In such a situation, many problems are being faced by the taxpayers in filing the returns, in view of which the Income Tax Department has decided to give more time to file the returns so that taxpayers can get more time to fill the returns.
