sensex ends 422 points down, nifty down 98 points

new Delhi. The domestic stock market has witnessed a downward trend today due to profit booking in heavyweight shares. In today's trading, the Sensex lost 422 points on Wednesday due to profit booking in Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank shares. At the end of trading, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 38,071 with a loss of 421.82 points or 1.10 percent. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange's Nifty fell by 98 points or 0.86 percent to 11,203 points.

Among the Sensex companies, Reliance Industries shares fell the most by four percent. Nestle India, HCL Tech, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Maruti and Tech Mahindra also suffered losses. On the other hand, shares of IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, L&T and SBI were profitable. Traders said investors cut their profits in some big stocks, which impacted the major indexes. In addition, market participants took caution before the results of the policy meeting of the Federal Reserve, the central bank of the US.

Investors are also worried about the rising cases of Kovid-19 in the country. On Wednesday, Kovid-19 infection cases in the country crossed 1.5 million. There were 14 lakh cases of infection two days ago. There are 48,513 new cases of infection a day. Meanwhile, other Asian markets saw China's Shanghai Composite, Hong Kong's HangSeng and South Korea's Cospie benefit. Japan's Nikki declined. On the other hand, early trading was a mixed trend in European markets.
