Delhi Metro incurs Rs 1000 crore loss due to COVID lockdown

new Delhi. Due to the lockdown, Delhi Metro has lost Rs 1000 crore in revenue during the last 4 months. According to sources, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is incurring a loss of Rs 10 crore every day due to the operation being stopped. Which has so far reached Rs 1000 crore. The country has been in lockdown since March 25 with the rise of the Corona virus. Currently, some relaxation has been given in business activities, but Metro services are completely closed.

DMRC operates 300 trains on 8 lines of Delhi NCR, about 18 lakh passengers used to travel every day through these routes on normal days. However, not a single passenger has traveled by metro for the last 4 months. According to DMRC, many commercial establishments and shops have also been given space on rent in the metro station and metro premises. Due to the lockdown, their business is also getting bad effect. These establishments are also seeking exemption from DMRC. According to the metro, options are being sought in government rules and guidelines to give relief or relief to all of them.

Unlock 3 is being launched in the country from August 1, but so far no picture is clear regarding the operation of the metro. However, the number of patients in Delhi is now under control. DMAC has already made it clear that it has complete preparations for safe Metro operations during the Corona epidemic and that it can start operating the Metro as per the guidelines on government orders. According to DMRC, although the government has to take the final decision on the metro, but they can start the metro service within 2 to 3 days on the orders of the government.
