Aditya puri sells share worth Rs 843 cr in Hdfc bank

new Delhi. HDFC Bank Managing Director Aditya Puri has sold his 95 percent stake in the bank for Rs 842.87 crore. Puri held 0.14 per cent stake (77.96 lakh shares) prior to this transaction, according to the latest data released by the stock market, and after the sale, their holding stood at 0.01 per cent (3.76 lakh shares). Puri had sold the shares during July 21 to 23.

Puri is scheduled to retire from the bank's top post in October. He has been serving as the MD of the bank since its inception in 1994. The bank's board last year constituted a six-member search committee to identify Puri's successor. The credit for setting up India's largest and most valuable private bank goes to Puri. The market capitalization of the bank is currently Rs 6.14 lakh crore.

Aditya Puri received 6.82 lakh shares through ESOP in the year 2019-20. The stock has recovered nearly 45 percent from its year-end low of March. Last year itself, Aditya Puri sold nearly 200 crore shares of HDFC Bank's unlisted NBFC unit HDB Financial Services.
