new Delhi. Oil marketing companies on Saturday raised diesel prices by 15 paise per liter. Fuel prices were stable for the last few days and now once again on Saturday, diesel prices have increased, while petrol prices have remained stable.
In the national capital Delhi, the price of diesel is Rs 81.79 per liter and petrol is Rs 80.43 per liter. Petrol prices have remained stable since June 29. Oil companies had earlier raised the price of diesel by 12 paise per liter on Monday, but after that, the prices of both fuels remained stable till the next four days i.e. Friday.
Despite the slow demand, the unprecedented increase in the price of diesel has made it difficult for the transport sector as their margins have been reduced due to rising fuel prices. Diesel prices in the capital have also raised concerns of automobile companies. Companies are beginning to worry about the future of selling diesel cars in the country's largest car market.
The gap between petrol and diesel in the national capital is increasing after the continuous increase in the price of diesel. As an unexpected incident, last month in Delhi, the price of diesel exceeded petrol for the first time.
Petrol in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata is being sold at Rs. 87.19, Rs. 83.63 and Rs. 82.10 per liter respectively without any change. While the price of diesel has increased marginally.
Oil companies have resumed daily revision of petrol and diesel prices from June 7, after keeping prices stable for 82 days during the lockdown. Since then, petrol has become costlier by Rs 9.5 per liter and diesel by Rs 12 per liter.
