new Delhi. The government has extended the work from home connectivity rules for IT and BPO companies till 31 December. The period from Work from Home was ending on 31 July. After this decision of the government, IT and BPO companies can now provide work from home facility to their employees till 31 December.
The Department of Telecommunications tweeted late last night that in view of the current threat caused by Kovid-19, the Department of Telecom has extended the relief in terms and conditions for other service providers till December 31 for the work from home facility.
Presently about 85 percent of IT employees are working from their homes and only those who are going to the office are needed for their important jobs.
In March, the Department of Telecommunications had relaxed certain rules to provide work from home facility to its employees for other service providers in the wake of the corona virus epidemic. Subsequently this exemption was extended to 31 July.
After the number of corona virus infection cases crossed 11.55 lakhs in India and 28,084 people died due to it, the Department of Telecommunications has decided to extend the work from home facility by December.
