There are complaints that Kovid-19 patients are being charged up to Rs 10,000 for a short distance of 10 to 15 km. Although some state governments have taken steps to control ambulance fees, there are cases of overcharging from patients even where the government has fixed the charges.
In the end of June, amidst the increasing infection of Kovid-19 in Mumbai, there were many cases where ambulance operators recovered up to Rs 30,000 for a distance of 10 to 15 km from the patients. In Pune, in the last week of June, Rs 8,000 was recovered from a Kovid-19 patient for 7 km.

Ambulance charges were Rs 80 to 120 per km for 5 km before Corona in Hyderabad and Rs 25 to 40 per km for out of town. This fee has now increased from Rs 5000 to 10,000 for 10 km in the city itself and Rs 30 to 60 per km for out of town.
Ambulances are charging 6000 to 8000 rupees for 5 km to carry Kovid patients in Kolkata. The fee for basic ambulance before Kovid-19 in Chandigarh was Rs 250 to 400 and Rs 1500 for Advanced Life Supporting Ambulance. Now in Mohali, Panchkula and Chandigarh the basic ambulance fare is 600 to 800 rupees and advanced life supporting ambulance is 2500 rupees.
In Jharkhand there was a fare of 500 rupees for 10 kilometers before Kovid-19. The fare for long distance was 10 rupees per km. Now a fee of Rs 900 is being charged for up to 10 km and Rs 13 per km for long distance. The rent of ambulance in Uttar Pradesh before Kovid period was Rs 10 per km, which has now increased to Rs 13 per km.
