According to the airlines, this decision has been taken with the government issuing the unlock. In unlock, the government is continuously giving relaxation in lockdown restrictions. Exemption from office rules will be available to those living in restricted areas, and employees with special medical conditions, such employees can continue work from home.

At the same time, Air India has brought a plan for its employees, under which employees can opt for unpaid leave for six months to five years. Apart from this, the airline management will also have the option to send any employee on leave. According to the Air India employee notice seen by INS, "The Board of Directors in the 102nd meeting of Air India has approved a plan on 7 July 2020. , Under which employees can opt for unpaid leave from six months to two years and this period can also be extended to five years. "

According to the statement, "CMDs under the scheme can also send employees on leave for six months to two years and extend it to five years as per the order." However, this provision can only be applied by looking at the reasons for suitability, efficiency, capacity, quality of performance, health of the employee, non-availability of employee for duty in the past.
