new Delhi. Diesel prices registered an increase again on Wednesday after a day's pause, while petrol prices remained steady for the 16th consecutive day. Oil marketing companies have increased the price of diesel by 13 paise in Delhi, 16 paise in Kolkata, 13 paise in Mumbai, and 11 paise per liter in Chennai. Meanwhile, international crude oil prices continued to rise for the second consecutive day.
Benchmark crude oil Brent crude is trading above $ 43 per barrel, while US crude WTI remains above $ 40 per barrel. In the coming days it will be difficult to get relief from the inflation of petrol and diesel if the price of crude oil rises.
According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of diesel in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has increased to Rs 81.13, Rs 76.33, Rs 79.40 and Rs 78.22 per liter respectively. While the price of petrol also remained unchanged in the four metros, Rs 80.43, Rs 82.10, Rs 87.19 and Rs 83.63 per liter respectively. In the National Capital Region, 75 paisa liter has become costlier than diesel petrol.
The benchmark crude oil Brent crude on the international futures market Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) was trading at $ 43.17 a barrel, up 0.63 percent from the previous session on September futures contract. At the same time, the US light crude West Texas Intermediate (WTI) August futures contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NIMAX) was trading at $ 40.55 a barrel, up 0.65 percent from the previous session.
