Retail Inflation

new Delhi. In the midst of the Corona epidemic, retail inflation has crossed 6 percent during June. According to the data released today, retail inflation has reached the level of 6.09 percent. Inflation in March was 5.84 per cent. The government did not release the inflation data for April and May due to the Corona crisis. According to the data released by the government, the retail inflation rate in rural areas was 6.2 percent, while the inflation rate in cities was 5.91 percent.

At the same time, food inflation has been at the level of 7.87 percent. Consumer food inflation was at 9.2 percent in May. Food inflation witnessed improvement in both rural and urban areas. However, this sharp decline was observed in urban areas. Food inflation in urban areas remained at 6.92 per cent during June, with inflation at 8.29 per cent in May. At the same time, food inflation in rural areas has come down to 8.41 percent from 9.68 percent in the previous month.

The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation said in a release that the inflation data is based on data collected from a limited number of markets due to restrictions due to the Corona virus epidemic. According to the statement, however, the data that has been taken does not meet the adequacy criteria for generating estimates of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) at the state level. The government has not released the full CPI data for April and May due to the 'lockdown' to prevent the corona virus epidemic.
