TRAI prohibits preferential plans promising faster speed of Airtel and Vodafone-Idea

TRAI asks Airtel, Vodafone Idea to hold priority plans promising faster speeds

new Delhi. Telecom regulator TRAI has asked Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea to put a stop to those specific telecom plans that promised to give faster speed to some preference users. In fact, questions were arising as to whether a preferential network has been developed at the cost of declining services of other customers.

A source said that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked both operators to withdraw these special plans for an interim period. TRAI has written to both service providers Airtel and Vodafone Idea about this and has questioned them about their plans, promising to provide faster speeds to some preference users.

The regulator has asked whether preferential paying customers in those specific plans came at the expense of declining service to other customers. TRAI has asked the operators how they are protecting the interests of other general customers. When contacted, an Airtel spokesperson said that we are full of enthusiasm to provide the best network and service to all our customers. Airtel spokesperson said that along with this the company wants to increase service and accountability for post-paid customers.

TRAI has given seven days to Airtel to respond. When asked about this, a Vodafone Idea spokesperson said that the Vodafone RedX plan offers many benefits to our valued postpaid customers including unlimited data, calls, premium content, international roaming packs. He said that the company is committed to providing best and high speed 4G data services to its customers.
