Tata group sole contender for Air India

new Delhi. Tata Group is the sole bidder in the race to buy the national airline Air India. The last date for bidding for Air India is also approaching and only a month's time is left in it. The Tata group, already present in the airline business, has shown interest in buying Air India, which was once owned by Tata.

Further bidders will be known through further due process. However, globally the airlines are in serious trouble due to the Kovid-19 epidemic and the consequent disruptions in air travel and tourism. The Tata group may go ahead with the bid, while its joint venture airline, Singapore Airlines, has refused to join Air India's bid due to concerns over Kovid-19. The group is currently giving due importance to the airlines. The bid deadline is 31 August and the government is not in favor of extending this date.

Air India has been facing a severe financial crisis long before the Kovid-19. The impact of the epidemic has had a significant adverse effect, especially in the aviation sector. This has worsened the financial situation in the aviation sector.

From Tata Airlines and Air India to Vistara and AirAsia India, the Tata group is an important part of the aviation sector developing in India. Tata has maintained a presence in the aviation sector, from Tata Airlines and long-nationalized Air India to a strategic joint venture with AirAsia Barhad and Singapore Airlines (SIA) for AirAsia India and Vistara respectively.

Both joint venture airlines operate independently on their respective business models – low-cost AirAsia and full-service Vistara. Vistara has significantly expanded its operations to include nine Boeing 737-800NG aircraft in its fleet in 2019, taking its number of aircraft to 31, helping the company expand its network by more than 50 percent Is received.
