Cabinet allows 7.4 cr poor women to avail quota of 3 free LPG cylinders till Sep

new Delhi. Another relief has been announced by the central government to poor families facing hardship due to the Corona crisis. The government has announced to give 3 free LPG cylinders to poor women by September. The cabinet today approved this decision. According to the Center, the scheme will cost Rs 13500 crore, while it will benefit 7.4 crore poor women.

According to the central government, giving LPG cylinders for free to poor families in difficult times of corona virus has helped them a lot. These cylinders are being distributed under the Prime Minister Ujjwala scheme. From April to June, the government has distributed 3-3 cylinders to every poor woman. Now poor families will get the benefit of this facility by September.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was started in 2016, earlier, people living below poverty line were given free LPG facility. Later, expanding its scope, the beneficiaries of Scheduled Caste and Tribe families, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Antyodaya Yojana were also included. Now all the poor families have been included in it. Under the scheme, the government also provides assistance to purchase gas cylinders along with free cylinders, to purchase stove and to fill gas for the first time.
