new Delhi. Production of auto sector companies has picked up with the slowdown in the lockdown, although it is still witnessing a sharp decline compared to last year. According to the data released, Maruti's total production in the month of June fell by 55 percent to 50742 in the previous year. The biggest decline has been seen in the mid-size segment where production has fallen by 86 per cent. At the same time, production in the small car i.e. mini segment has been better. Production here has been 33 per cent less than last year.
Talking about different segments of production, the total production of mini car segment in June was 10048 units, compared to 15087 cars produced in the same period last year. This segment comes with Alto S-Preso. At the same time, the total production of Wagon R, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Dzire coming in the compact segment was 26242 units in the month of June. The total production of the segment in the same month of last year was 66436 units.
In the mid-size car segment, only 363 cars were manufactured in the month of June, which is less than 15% of the 2543 units produced in the same period last year. Ciaz comes in this segment. The total production of passenger utility vehicles such as Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara, Brezza, XL6 stood at 9714 units, which is 56 per cent of the previous year's production. On the other hand, Maruti Eeco produced 3109 units in June this year as compared to 8501 units last year.
Maruti's Light Commercial Vehicle Super Carry produced 1266 units in the month of June as compared to 2276 units in the same month last year.
