India needs another green revolution says agri minister

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that in order to increase the production of food grains, another green revolution is needed in the country in view of the increasing population of the country. On Monday, the Agriculture Minister inaugurated the newly built guest house of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) at Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.

Apart from this, Tomar named the new administrative and educational building of this institute after Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee. He said, "This program is being held on the big auspicious day on the land of Jharkhand. Today is the birth anniversary of Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee, who has dedicated his life to the unity and integrity of the country, raised awareness about one country and one legislation and Sacrificed in Kashmir. "

Tomar said that the government is committed to doubling the income of farmers by the year 2022 and to achieve this goal, the 16 point agenda of the government announced in the budget and new legal provisions and reform programs will be helpful. The Union Minister said that the government allocated Rs 2.83 lakh crore for agriculture and allied activities, irrigation and rural development in the budget of 2020-21, which is the highest budget till date.

He said that under the self-reliant India campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced several measures, including an infrastructure fund of one lakh crore rupees for the agriculture sector. Packages for crores of rupees have also been given for fisheries, animal husbandry, herbal farming, beekeeping, etc., through which all sections of farming and farming will be promoted.

Tomar said, "In view of the increasing population, there will be a need for a second green revolution in future for food grains supply. There is immense potential to bring this revolution in the northeastern states including Jharkhand." Union Minister of State for Agriculture Purshottam Rupala and Kailash Chaudhary, besides the Director General of ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra and other officials were present in the program.
