Power consumption in June

new Delhi. Due to the reduction in demand due to the lockdown implemented due to the Kovid-19 epidemic in the country, electricity consumption is seeing a steady decrease over the previous year. In the month of June, total electricity consumption declined by 9.74 percent to 106.48 billion units. Electricity consumption was 117.98 billion units in the same period last year. Since the lockdown, continuous demand for electricity has been declining over the last year. However, consumption is also showing improvement during this period.

The decline in electricity demand has been somewhat less in April and May in June, with electricity consumption in the month of May falling by 14.86 percent over the previous year and 23.21 percent in April. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Power, the power consumption has improved after the government relieved the lockdown and the heat outbreak in the country. Commercial and industrial activity remained sluggish in April, May and June this year due to restrictions imposed due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, which led to a decrease in electricity consumption. According to the data of the Ministry of Power, the total electricity consumption in June this year was 106.48 billion units as compared to 117.98 billion units in the same month last year. The power consumption in May was 102.18 billion units. Data showed that electricity consumption declined by 23.21 percent to 84.55 billion units in April.

Experts are hoping that by August power consumption or demand will come back to normal. Because the government is continuously giving relaxation in lockdown and at the same time there is a steady increase in economic activity, which will have an impact on electricity consumption.
