Rupee ends 3 paise higher at 75.55 per dollar

new Delhi. The rupee closed at 75.55 on Monday, gaining three paise against the dollar. According to traders, positive trend in domestic stock markets, resumption of trading activity after lockdown and foreign capital inflows supported the rupee. But with the increase in dollar purchases of banks and exporters, the rupee registered a limited rise in the international market as crude prices improved.

The rupee opened at 75.59 against the dollar on Monday morning and finally closed at 75.55 per dollar, a rise of three paise over the previous close. The rupee had closed at 75.58 against the dollar on Friday. During the trading session, the rupee strengthened to Rs 75.50 against the dollar during the day, while it also declined by Rs 75.64. According to preliminary data, foreign portfolio investors bought Rs 97.61 crore on Friday. In the international market, Brent crude oil prices were up 0.97 percent at $ 42.71 per barrel.
