Monsoon Hits Kerala

new Delhi. The 4-month long monsoon season has started in the country. The Meteorological Department has informed today that the monsoon has reached Kerala. Here the monsoon rain has started from its scheduled time. The monsoon usually reaches Kerala by June 1, and it is believed that a day before or even late, the monsoon has arrived on time.

The private sector skymet, which has been monitoring the weather, announced the arrival of monsoon in Kerala on 30 May. However, the Meteorological Department has announced to reach the monsoon today. Monsoon is very important for India. During the monsoon, three-fourths of the total rainfall in the country occurs during the monsoon, the monsoon contributes the most to support irrigation-based agriculture. With the help of a good monsoon, the yields are increased, while the country's reservoirs also help in filling, so that the water requirements are fulfilled for the rest of the year.

This year, the normal monsoon has been estimated, based on which the government is also expecting record yields. Better yield will increase rural income and help the economy recover after the Corona crisis.

The monsoon rains normally begin by June 1 on the coasts of India's mainland, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The monsoon covers most of the country by June 15. In the normal course, by the first week of July, monsoon rains begin to occur throughout the country.
