new Delhi. The Government of India has ordered Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block the computer file sharing website WeTransfer for security reasons. In an order issued on May 18, the Department of Telecommunications had asked the internet service providers to download two links on the Netherlands website WeTransfer and block the entire website.
In an order sent to various internet service providers through e-mail, the Department of Telecommunications has said that information about its compliance should be given immediately, otherwise action will be taken under license conditions.
Sources said that the Department of Telecommunications had been asked by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to block this website and two download links. The exact reason for blocking the website is not known. However, an official said that it was probably done for security reasons. There was no response from DoT in this regard.
An official source said that the Delhi Police had requested the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to immediately block two links and the entire website. This order has been given on the basis of this. The Ministry has asked the Department of Telecommunications to instruct Internet service providers to block the website.
